Villanelle’s Values
Where ethics and action align.
I lead my business just as I lead my life: committed to cultivating a more honest and heartfelt world. This starts with upholding transparency as a core tenant in my relationships––both personal and professional––and extends to sharing what I have in hopes of making my community a little better than the day before.
Know that when you invest in Villanelle Floral Company, you are supporting business practices and community participation that improve our collective wellbeing at a grassroots level.
Whether through money, time, or connection, your investment contributes to:
-
Inclusion.
All love is celebrated at Villanelle. No matter your identity, my staff and I stand proudly with you to advocate for your individuality, safety, and right to love who you love.
-
Sustainable business practices.
Villanelle is committed to pursuing zero-waste in our studio. Whenever possible, we re-use all inorganic materials in our floral designs. We do not use floral foam. When sourcing additional supplies, we prioritize purchasing from local businesses over big box or online retailers.
-
Ethical and local sourcing.
90% of the flowers we source are from small local farms who are either part of a grower-owned co-op or who have personal connections to our business. Buying local means lowering the carbon footprint of your design package and strengthening our homegrown farming community. Some of our favorites include:
Seattle Wholesale Grower's Market
-
Giving back.
Included in our overhead expenses are recurring monthly donations to:
Mary’s Place: A local non-profit centering equity and opportunity for women and families experiencing homelessness through shelter, supplies, food, and empowerment.
Real Rent Duwamish: A movement funding the Duwamish Tribal Services, which provide social, educational, health, and cultural services to the Duwamish tribe––the homelands on which Villanelle is based.
-
Volunteering.
During the off season, I volunteer at Northwest Harvest, a statewide network of more than 350 foodbanks, meal programs, and high-need schools addressing equity in our food system.
-
Flower Donation.
At the end of your event, you have the option of giving your arrangements a second life by donating them to Northwest Harvest, where they’ll continue to bring joy to local families.
